ASSISTANT´S GUIDE.- Good practice for host school and assistants.
BEFORE THE ASSISTANT ARRIVES:
Draw up an outline of the Comenius Assistantship project.Draw up a draft timetable, consulting staff and the assistant.
Send the assistant documentation on the school and the local area.
Help the assistant with accommodation.
Make sure the assistant is insured for risks connected with work
Check whether the assistant has adequate health insurance...etc...
Integration into the school:
Meet and greet the assistant on arrival.
Guided tour of the school and introductions to staff and pupils....etc.
Integration into the local community:
Invite the assistant to social events.
Offer help with administrative formalities...etc.
In and beyond the classroom:
Give the assistant an opportunity to teach his or her mother tongue.
Involve the assistant in developing teaching materials.
Use the assistant as a cultural as well as linguistic resource.
Consult the assistant in planning lessons
Use the assistant with pupils needing special support
Link the assistantship with the local community.
Encourage the assistant to express ideas

AN ASSISTANT TEACHING A SCIENCE LESSON.
"Every year assistants from different countries come to our school."
Ceip Reyes Católicos is a bilingüal school where the children learn some subjects sharing two languages: Spanish and English.
Bilingüal teachers and assistants teach specific subjects like P.E and Science in English.
Assistants introduce their culture and tradition.
They pay interest and devotion in teaching the best way they can.
